Lipstick Under My Burkha to release on July 28

After a long fight with Censor Board, Konkona Sen Sharma and Ratna Pathak Shah starrer Lipstick Under My Burkha has finally got a release date.

The Prakash Jha production will release on July 28.


Producer Ekta Kapoor has come on-board as presenter and pan-India distributor of the film.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh broke the news on Twitter, writing, "Balaji Motion Pictures present Lipstick Under My Burkha. Produced by Prakash Jha and directed by Alankrita Shrivastava. 28 July 2017 release."

The film, which explores women's sexuality, won the Spirit of Asia Award at the Tokyo International Film Festival and the Oxfam Award for the Best Film on Gender Equality at the Mumbai Film Festival.

The biggest surprise about Johnny Depp’s possible return to Pirates of the Caribbean may not be that Jack Sparrow is coming back. It is that he may no longer be the pirate at the centre of the story.

After years of uncertainty over the sixth film, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that discussions are under way with Depp. Speaking to Deadline at D23, Bruckheimer said, “We’re talking with Johnny, we’re working on a screenplay, and hopefully we can get this done.”
