Janhvi Kapoor criticises her performance in Dhadak

Late Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor made her Bollywood debut with 2018 release Dhadak. The film was a remake of Marathi film Sairat and received a mixed response from the critics as well as the audiences.

While we are yet to see Janhvi on the big screen for the second time, we got to see her acting chops in Netflix’s Ghost Stories. Well, she impressed one and all with her performance in the segment which was directed by Zoya Akhtar.

Recently, in an interview with BBC Asian Network, Janhvi criticised her performance in Dhadak. The actress said, “I think I lacked confidence and my language was an issue. I think I was a little stiff in places. I think that one thing I had working for me is that I tried to bring a lot of honesty and sensitivity to it. I think the emotionality of it was in the right place.”

“Maybe it was all heart but it lacked a lot of technical understanding and a lot of finesse. I lacked technical understanding and maybe my skill set wasn’t as polished. It’s weird saying this about myself but I think I felt honest onscreen,” she added.

Well, this is quite surprising as not many actresses would prefer to criticise her own performance.

Meanwhile, Janhvi currently has as many as five projects in her kitty. She will next be seen on the big screen in Gunjan Saxena – The Kargil Girl. It is a biopic on Gunjan Saxena who became the first IAF woman pilot to enter the combat zone. She also has films like Roohi Afzana, Dostana 2, Takht and Bombay Girl in her kitty
