Is Star Plus' Sanjivani being axed?

Rumours have been doing the rounds lately that Star Plus in planning to pull the plug on its recently launched show Sanjivani. The medical drama went on air in the month of August with much fanfare. However, it received average response in terms of TRPs and has been struggling to connect with viewers ever since. 

Interestingly, Sanjivani has performed exceptionally well in international markets like the UK. However, on its home turf, the show has failed to weave any magic. To improve ratings, the makers introduced several changes in the storyline of the show, with leads Namit Khanna and Surbhi Chandna’s characters falling in love, keeping all their differences at bay. 


However, the new storyline is yet to cast its spell on viewers. With nothing going right for the show, some media outlets reported that it could be going off-air due to underwhelming response from the audience.

However, when producer Siddharth Malhotra was contacted, he denied the rumours. He said, “No, there is no truth to these rumors and speculations. The show is not going off air and neither have I received any reports of the show getting low TRP.”

For the uninitiated, Sanjivani is the reboot version of Star Plus original series Sanjivani which aired between 2002-2005. Besides Namit Khanna and Surbhi Chandna, the show also features Mohnish Bahl and Gurdeep Kaur in important roles.

Clooney speaks out

George Clooney has voiced support for actors Paul Dano, Owen Wilson and Matthew Lillard after they were harshly criticised by Quentin Tarantino last month.

Speaking at AARP’s Movies for Grownups awards on 10 January, Clooney said he would be “honoured” to work with all three. He added that he does not enjoy seeing people treated cruelly.
