Indian Biker Podcast Wins Runner Up at Wickers Radio & Audio Funding Award

India’s first motorcycling podcast, the Biker Radio Rodcast, has won the runner up prize of £3,000 at The Wickers Radio & Audio Funding Award, held on September 8.

The Biker Radio Rodcast follows several biking enthusiasts as they take part in the Raid de Himalaya, considered one of the most grueling motorcycling rallies in the world.


The podcast, produced by Shirshendu ‘Shandy’ Banerjee, has achieved taking listeners into a “different and surprising world that turns our preconceptions about India on their head,” said Jane Mote, leading television and radio executive and a member of the judging panel.

“Forty-six million bikers in India…who knew? I can’t wait to hear more about the world of this huge and new biking community as they take part in this physically and mentally challenging rally,” said Mote.

At a time when stories inspired by the '26/11'Mumbai attacks have become increasingly common, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata finds a fresh perspective by turning its attention to the nurses of Cama Hospital.

Written by Ritesh Shah and directed by Manoj Tapadia, the film revisits the night when terrorists Ismail Khan and Ajmal Kasab entered the hospital complex during their deadly rampage across Mumbai. Rather than centring on the attackers, the film focuses on the medical staff who risked their lives to protect patients caught in the chaos.
