I'm overwhelmed, says Ranveer on Padmaavat clocking 3 billion

By raking in a humongous amount of 3 billion from the domestic market itself, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's gobsmackingly epic film, Padmaavat, has become one of the most successful films of Indian cinema. Actor Ranveer Singh, who enthralled the audience with his evil character of Alauddin Khilji in the movie, is on cloud nine as Padmaavat has become his career's highest grossing film.

In a statement, elated Ranveer says, "Padmaavat is a historic film for our country. I'm overwhelmed and extremely happy that the film has received this much love from audiences not just in India, but also the world over.

The actor says that the film is and will always remain close to his heart. "It is a film that is and will always be extremely close to my heart and with it becoming my first ever Rs 300 crore (3 billion) film, the memory of Padmaavat will be that much more special," he added.

Produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions, Padmaavat also starred Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles. The movie hit the silver screen on 25th January, after a series of controversies and protests.

Filmmaker steps away from YRF’s action franchise

Filmmaker Ayan Mukerji has stepped away from Yash Raj Films’ (YRF) highly anticipated action project Dhoom 4, reportedly due to creative differences. According to Bollywood Hungama, Mukerji’s vision for the film did not align with the studio’s direction, prompting him to withdraw from the project.

Mukerji, who was in discussions to direct the next instalment of the hit franchise—expected to star Ranbir Kapoor—was said to have limited control over the script, which was reportedly written by Shridhar Raghavan. The director, best known for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Brahmastra, was keen on shaping the film creatively rather than simply executing an existing plan.
