With Daniel Craig completing his tenure with the high-profile role, producer Barbara Broccoli is looking to cast the new James Bond. A number of names have been doing the rounds for the popular role. Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston, and Kit Harrington were also in the running, but if fresh reports are to be believed, the trio is no longer part of the race to be the next James Bond. Yes, you read that right!
As per an insider, the makers want a “fresh-faced” star given Daniel Craig filmed his farewell No Time To Die aged 51. It is said that the actor who finally bags the part has to be below the age of 40. This is not the only requirement as his height must be above 5’10.
This has ruled out the possibility of Idris Elba being the next 007 as he is 49 years old, Tom Hardy, who is 44 years old, Tom Hiddleston, who is 41 years old, and Kit Harrington, who is below 5’10”.
Earlier, Henry Cavill, who is known for his role in DC Extended Universe as Superman, said he was ready to take on the role of James. “I would love to do it of course. I think Bond would be a really fun role. It’s British, it’s cool. I think that now that I have my Mission: Impossible badge we can do real stunts and really amp it up as well,” he said.
“Not to say they weren’t doing real stunts. I’m just saying it would be fun for me to actually take what I’ve learnt on this and carry it through to a movie like Bond. I’d love to play a Brit. I don’t get to play a Brit very often. So yes, I would love the opportunity and if they were to ask, I would say ‘yes’.”
However, Pierce Brosnan, who passed on the mantle to Daniel Craig, found Tom Hardy right for the role. “I think Tom Hardy could be a good Bond. I’d be happy to see him do it. You need an actor who can put a bit of wiggle into it – that’s what makes Bond. Daniel Craig has been an incredible Bond. He’s very physical, he looks lethal. You genuinely believe this is someone who could kill a man.”
Apart from Elba, Hardy, Harrington, Hiddleston, and Cavill, Richard Madden and Regé-Jean Page were also in the race. It is surely going to be interesting to see who will become the next 007.
