Hare Krishnas deliver free meals for elderly in Cardiff; plans expansion

THE Hare Krishna group based at Ty Krishna Cymru in Cardiff Bay is distributing vegan meals for free to those who need in the CF10 and CF11 areas of the city.

The group plans to expand the service - seven days a week -to the whole city.

The initiative is an extension of the Food For Life Wales programme which has been run by the Hare Krishna movement in Cardiff Bay for the past two decades.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Food For Life Wales has reached out to various individuals by posting flyers through letterboxes.

Indian Honorary Consul for Wales, Raj Aggarwal said: “It’s a wonderful initiative by Ty Krishna for to support the hardest hit in the community at this difficult time.

“The Indian community based in Wales has already responded well to a fund-raising campaign to support this and it won’t cost the Welsh government a penny, but any further donations would be gratefully received.”

Requests for the delivery service can be made by phone 029 2019 3346, email-info@iskconwales.org.uk and Facebook -www.facebook.com/TyKrishnaCymru.

Donations can be made online or via the Ty Krishna website, and also the group is hoping to receive food donations, and new volunteers to help cook and distribute the food.
