Farhan Akhtar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra to join forces again

Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, who directed Farhan Akhtar in the blockbuster film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in 2013, is set to join forces with the actor once again. Just like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, their new offering will also be a sports drama. It will be based on boxing.

The project has been titled Toofan. Apart from playing the male lead in the film, Farhan will produce it with Ritesh Sidhwani under their banner Excel Entertainment.

Spilling some beans on the project, a close source says, “It’s not a biopic. It is a fictional story scripted by Anjum Rajabali. Farhan fell in love with it as soon as he heard it. Rakeysh has already started with the prep and Farhan will be training extensively in boxing. He is looking forward to working with Rakeysh again. The film should roll this year.”

Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar is presently busy promoting his next production venture Gully Boy, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The much-awaited film is directed by his filmmaker sister Zoya Akhtar.

There are also reports that the actor-producer is about to announce Don 3 with Shah Rukh Khan.
