Famous Indian web series based on books

Bollywood films like The Zoya Factor, 2 States, Half Girlfriend, 3 Idiots, Kai Po Che, Parineeta, Devdas, Aisha, 7 Khoon Maaf, and many more were based on books. But well, books have not just inspired movies on the big screen but also web series on the OTT platforms.

Well, today, let’s looks at the list of famous Indian web series that were based on books…

Sacred Games

The first one on the list has to be Sacred Games. It is one of the most famous Indian web series, but not many would know that it is based on Vikram Chandra's 2006 novel of the same name. Starring Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the web series had two seasons and it was liked by one and all.

Leila

Deepa Mehta’s Leila starring Huma Qureshi in the lead role is undoubtedly one of the best Indian web series we have watched.  The series is based on the 2017 eponymous novel by Prayaag Akbar.

Bard Of Blood

Bard Of Blood failed to get a great response, but with Shah Rukh Khan’s name attached to it as a producer, the web series was the talk of the town when it was released. Starring Emraan Hashmi in the lead role, the series was based on the book of the same name. It was written by Billa Siddiqui.

The Final Call

The Final Call starring Arjun Rampal and Sakshi Tanwar received a good response. The series revolves around the passengers of a flight from Mumbai to Sydney whose lives are in danger as the captain on board decides to commit suicide. The series was based on Priya Kumar’s novel I Will Go with You: The Flight of a Lifetime.

State Of Siege: 26/11

We have seen many films and web series that revolve around the Mumbai terrorist attack that took place on 26th November 2008. Well, a couple of months ago, one more web series revolving around the attacks titled State of Siege: 26/11 started streaming on Zee5. The web series is based on Sandeep Unnithan’s book Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11.

Instagram blocks Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan and other Pakistani celebrity accounts in India after Pahalgam attack

Following the deadly Pahalgam attack on April 22, the Indian government has blocked the Instagram accounts of several popular Pakistani celebrities, including Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, and Sajal Aly. This move comes amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan after terrorists targeted tourists in Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 people. The blocked accounts display a message stating, "Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content."

Hania Aamir and Mahira Khan, both well-known in India, were among the first to experience this restriction. Their profiles, along with those of other celebrities like Ali Zafar, Bilal Abbas, and Iqra Aziz, are now inaccessible to Indian users. Interestingly, other Pakistani stars like Fawad Khan and Fahad Mustafa still maintain active accounts in India.

How Jacqueline Fernandez made her mark at the Oscars with ‘Tell It Like A Woman’

In a year where Indian cinema made headlines across the world, one name that subtly but powerfully made her mark on the global stage was Jacqueline Fernandez. While all eyes were on RRR’s electrifying number "Naatu Naatu" during the Oscar nominations, quietly sharing the same spotlight was Tell It Like A Woman — a Hollywood anthology film featuring Jacqueline — nominated in the same Best Original Song category for Applause by Diane Warren.

For Jacqueline, this wasn’t just another credit on her filmography. It was yet another moment that reflects her ability to keep rewriting her own story. With every move, she defies the conventional. She’s never been one to chase the spotlight — instead, she lets her work speak louder, and somehow, it always finds its way to the big stage.
