Famous Indian web series based on books

Bollywood films like The Zoya Factor, 2 States, Half Girlfriend, 3 Idiots, Kai Po Che, Parineeta, Devdas, Aisha, 7 Khoon Maaf, and many more were based on books. But well, books have not just inspired movies on the big screen but also web series on the OTT platforms.

Well, today, let’s looks at the list of famous Indian web series that were based on books…


Sacred Games

The first one on the list has to be Sacred Games. It is one of the most famous Indian web series, but not many would know that it is based on Vikram Chandra's 2006 novel of the same name. Starring Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the web series had two seasons and it was liked by one and all.

Leila

Deepa Mehta’s Leila starring Huma Qureshi in the lead role is undoubtedly one of the best Indian web series we have watched.  The series is based on the 2017 eponymous novel by Prayaag Akbar.

Bard Of Blood

Bard Of Blood failed to get a great response, but with Shah Rukh Khan’s name attached to it as a producer, the web series was the talk of the town when it was released. Starring Emraan Hashmi in the lead role, the series was based on the book of the same name. It was written by Billa Siddiqui.

The Final Call

The Final Call starring Arjun Rampal and Sakshi Tanwar received a good response. The series revolves around the passengers of a flight from Mumbai to Sydney whose lives are in danger as the captain on board decides to commit suicide. The series was based on Priya Kumar’s novel I Will Go with You: The Flight of a Lifetime.

State Of Siege: 26/11

We have seen many films and web series that revolve around the Mumbai terrorist attack that took place on 26th November 2008. Well, a couple of months ago, one more web series revolving around the attacks titled State of Siege: 26/11 started streaming on Zee5. The web series is based on Sandeep Unnithan’s book Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11.

I gave up cinema for my fans, says actor Vijay

ACTOR-POLITICIAN Vijay has said he decided to give up cinema to stand up for his fans, who, he said, offered him everything, including a “kottai” (fort).

Speaking at the audio launch of his film Jana Nayagan in Malaysia, Vijay said his decision was driven by the loyalty and support of his fans. In Tamil Nadu, the word kottai symbolises a stronghold and also refers to Fort St George in Chennai, which houses the state assembly, secretariat and the chief minister’s office.
