Confirmed: Emraan Hashmi to play IAF officer KC Kuruvilla in Vayusena

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, who is presently shooting for his upcoming suspense thriller, Chehre, with megastar Amitabh Bachchan, has bagged yet another interesting project. Last seen in T-Series Films’ unsuccessful offering, Why Cheat India, the actor has been roped in to play retired Air Commodore Kariyadil Cheriyan Kuruvilla in a Hindi film. Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, whose last directorial, The Accidental Prime Minister (2019), emerged as an average grosser at the box-office, will be calling the shots for the biographical film.

Confirming the development, Vijay Ratnakar Gutte tells media, “Emraan has not played a character like this before, and he loves such roles. It was an instant nod from him. It is a human interest story that starts with the 1971 Indo-Pak war and ends with the Indo-Pak Kargil War of 1999.”

The filmmaker goes on to add that he is planning to shoot the film at real locations with real fighter planes, provided the authorities allow them to do so. “We plan to film at a real airbase, and it’d be great if the authorities allow us to use real fighter planes to present the story correctly and realistically. We are hopeful that the permission will come through soon.”

The yet-to-be-titled film is expected to mount the shooting floor in November this year. The team is looking at wrapping it up in a start-to-finish schedule. The theatrical release date of the film is yet to be finalized by the makers.

Besides Chehre and now this untitled film with Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, Emraan Hashmi will also be seen in filmmaker Sanjay Gupta’s next gangster drama, Mumbai Saga. The film also features John Abraham, Jackie Shroff and Suniel Shetty. The actor is also venturing into the web-space with Red Chillies Entertainment’s Bard of Blood for Netflix.
