Birthday Special: 5 films that prove Ayesha Takia is one of the most underrated actresses of Bollywood

Ayesha Takia kickstarted her with the film Taarzan: The Wonder Car in 2004. She won the Filmfare Best Debut award for her performance in the film. And then, there was no looking back as she starred in some amazing movies and also gave many hits. However, Ayesha clearly didn’t get her dues in Bollywood.

Today, as she celebrates her 35th birthday, let’s look at the list of the films that prove she is one of the most underrated actresses of Bollywood.

Socha Na Tha

Imtiaz Ali’s first directorial Socha Na Tha starred Abhay Deol and Ayesha Takia. The rom-com was a sleeper hit and Ayesha surely impressed one and all with her performance in the movie. Her chemistry with Abhay was also quite good in the film.

Dor

In 2004 and 2005, Ayesha mainly starred in rom-coms, but things changed when in 2006, the actress featured in Dor. The Nagesh Kukunoor directorial received positive reviews and Ayesha’s performance in the movie was appreciated a lot. She also received many awards for her performance in the film.

Sunday

Rohit Shetty’s movies don’t really have a meaty role for actresses, but the 2008 release Sunday was an exception. Ayesha Takia had a pivotal role in the film and she performed quite well. Her comic timings were appreciated a lot in the movie.

Wanted

We all know that Wanted gave Salman’s career boost. But well, let’s not forget the film also starred Ayesha and gave her a good scope to perform. She had scenes where she shined and stood out. The Prabhudheva directorial was a blockbuster at the box office.

Mod

Well, Nagesh Kukunoor surely knows how to get the best out of Ayesha Takia. The actress’ last outing on the big screen was the 2011 release Mod. While the film received mixed reviews from the critics and didn’t do well at the box office, Ayesha once again proved her mettle as an actress.

It’s been nine years we have seen Ayesha on the big screen, let’s hope that she makes a comeback with a strong role soon.
