Main Tera Hero

Varun Dhawan made his Bollywood debut with Karan Johar’s directorial Student Of The Year, but it was father David Dhawan’s directorial Main Tera Hero that made him a star. The 2014 release film was a rom-com and had all the massy elements in it.

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania

In 2014, Varun starred in a movie titled Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, a movie that was called a tribute to Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. The movie also starred Alia Bhatt and was a super hit at the box office. From romance to good songs to drama, this Shashank Khaitan directorial had everything a moviegoer wants in a film.

Dishoom

After delivering a hit with his father David Dhawan, in 2016 Varun Dhawan collaborated with his brother Rohit Dhawan for a movie titled Dishoom. The action-entertainer also starred John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez, but Varun impressed one and all with his act in the film.

Badrinath Ki Dulhania

After the success of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, the makers took forward the Dulhania franchise forward with the sequel titled Badrinath Ki Dulhania. Just like Humpty… this movie also had massy elements in it and was loved by moviegoers. It went to collect more than 100 crore at the domestic box office.

Judwaa 2

Judwaa 2 is one of the biggest hits of Varun’s career to date. Directed by David Dhawan, the film is a remake of 1997 release Judwaa. Though it received negative reviews, masses loved it and made it a blockbuster.

Bhatt also pointed out that the team is entering a space usually driven by male-led spy films, so they are aware of what they are taking on. The Yash Raj Films project is shaping into one of Bollywood’s most closely watched titles for 2026.
