Batti Gul Meter Chalu mounts the shooting floor

Filmmaker Shree Narayan Singh, who debuted in Bollywood with the release of his highly successful film Toilet Ek Prem Katha, has started shooting for his second outing, Batti Gul Meter Chalu. The film stars Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam in lead roles.

Actor Shahid Kapoor, who is on cloud nine after the stupendous success of his recent release Padmaavat, has reached Uttarakhand, where the film begins its first shooting schedule. The actor plays the role of a lawyer in the movie.


The film revolves around the issue of escalating electricity bills and how it affects the lives of people in Uttarakhand. Along with Shahid, Yami Gautam also plays a lawyer in the movie, who takes on his character, while Shraddha will be seen as a vivacious girl who goes through a desperate transformation in the second half of the film.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu is being bankrolled by KriArj Entertainment. The film is expected to complete its shoot by April. It is scheduled to hit screens on 31st August 2018.
