Aziz Ansari grabs Emmy nomination

Writer and comedian Aziz Ansari has become the first Indian-American actor to gain a lead comedy acting Emmy nomination for his series Master of None. Ansari also received nominations for writing and directing the series which he co-created with Alang Yang. In the series Ansari plays an actor trying to make it in New York. US born Ansari is from a Tamil Muslim family from Tamil Nadu, India. Master of None was released for streaming on November 6, 2015 on Netflix

Karan Johar and Dharma Productions are betting big on fresh talent. The studio is launching two newcomers in Bollywood after what’s being called its largest-ever talent hunt, which spanned more than 500 auditions from across India. The aim, insiders say, is to find raw, authentic performers, not familiar surnames.
