Ayushmann Khurrana: I personally love Priyanka Chopra’s voice

In Dream Girl, Ayushmann Khurrana will be seen playing the role of a guy working in a call centre where he talks to people in a female voice with the name Pooja. A lot of men and even a woman fall in love with Pooja and then, of course, a lot of funny chaos happens in the film. The trailer of Dream Girl has impressed one and all, and everyone is waiting for it to hit the screens on 13th September 2019.

Ayushmann, himself has dubbed for the female voice in the movie. While talking to a tabloid, he revealed that while the shooting of the film was going on, the film’s team was thinking of having an actress dub for the female voice or a voiceover artist. During the shooting, the actor too gave his best to speak in a female voice. Ayushmann says, “Since I was 80 percent there, I thought of giving it a try, then, if things didn’t work out, we could try getting an actress or a good voiceover artist on board too. I personally love Priyanka Chopra’s voice.”

Talking about dubbing in the female voice, the actor said, “Of course, I had to give 30-40 takes, focussing on every single line. It was hard work, but we finally got it right.” Ayushmann reveals that when he was 15 he used to call at his girlfriend’s residence, and if her parents picked up the call, he used to pretend to be a female friend. “I think I’d been preparing for this film for years,” the actor added.

The actor also revealed that the inspiration behind this character was Aamir Khan (Baazi) and Kamal Haasan (Chachi 420). He said, “They both inspired me but Dream Girl revolves around the boy who works in a call centre, so I had to wear a saree or a lehenga in only around five scenes.”

Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, Dream Girl also stars Nushrat Bharucha in the lead role.

Property experts urge Rachel Reeves to scrap stamp duty ahead of budget

Chancellor Rachel Reeves is facing mounting pressure to abolish stamp duty ahead of the November (26) budget, with property experts warning that the tax is stalling the housing market and damaging economic growth.

Television presenter Kirstie Allsopp, known for Channel 4's Location, Location, Location, told the Treasury committee that buyers are 'in a panic' about potential changes and many are 'sitting tight' rather than moving house.

Tim Leunig, director of economics at Public First Consulting and former adviser to several ministers including Rishi Sunak, went further. He pointed that every single person in the country is a loser from stamp duty land tax because it restricts people from moving. The people who are the biggest losers are genuinely young people because they move more often.

However, Leunig cautioned that simply abolishing stamp duty would likely drive up house prices, particularly in London. Instead, he has proposed an annual property tax on homes worth above £500,000, with a 0.54 per cent yearly levy on home value and a higher rate for properties exceeding £1 m.

The Guardian revealed in August that the Treasury is considering a new tax on the sale of homes worth more than £500,000 as part of a radical overhaul of stamp duty and council tax.

The debate comes at a critical time for the housing market, with stamp duty currently levied on property purchases above £125,000.
