Avinesh Rekhi roped in for Colors’ Choti Sardaarni

Popular television actor Avinesh Rekhi, who was last seen in Star Plus’ Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji, has been signed on to play the lead role in one of Colors’ forthcoming shows.

Titled Choti Sardaarni, the upcoming show will be produced by Rajesh Ram Singh, who has previously directed several high-profile soap operas like Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, Kesari Nandan and Chandrashekhar.

Before finalizing Avinesh Rekhi for the part, the makers had reportedly approached Sudeep Sahir and Mrunal Jain to play the lead role. However, things did not work out with them and the role finally went to Rekhi.

Besides Avinesh Rekhi, popular film and television actress Anita Raj has also been roped in to play a key character in the series. Talking about the female lead, reports suggest that the makers are looking at roping in a newcomer.

According to reports, Choti Sardaarni will begin production sometime next week. Rajesh Ram Singh is producing the show under his banner Cockcrow Productions along with Shaika Films’ Pradeep Kumar.

Set against a Punjabi backdrop, Choti Sardaarni was earlier supposed to air on Colors’ upcoming channel. However, now it will hit airwaves on Colors itself. More details are awaited.
