Alia Bhatt on shooting for SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR

By: Mohnish Singh

Last seen in her home production Sadak 2 (2020), Alia Bhatt recently joined the team of Telugu film RRR, which is being helmed by SS Rajamouli. The actress, who entered filmdom with Karan Johar’s superhit college-caper Student Of The Year (2012), is making her Telugu debut with the upcoming magnum opus.

Bhatt recently shared her experience of shooting with SS Rajamouli for the film. “Shooting for this film was a very different experience for me because along with Hindi, I also had to shoot in Telugu, which is a language I do not know”, she told a publication.

RRR hit the shooting floor in 2019. The team had to halt the shoot in March earlier this year due to the sudden outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic. The shoot began again in October after several months of halt.

The film stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan in principal roles, while Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt appear in important cameos. Bhatt spoke about shooting for the film, “I literally lived with the lines for a year and a half. By the end of it, I was speaking my lines in my sleep. I was waking up and saying my lines for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”

She added that she is thrilled to be a part of RRR and work under the direction of SS Rajamouli. “I am extremely excited and thrilled to be a part of this film. To be directed by Rajamouli sir, and to work with these extremely talented and larger than life actors Junior NTR and Ram Charan Tej,” she concluded.

RRR was originally scheduled to hit theatres on 8th January, 2021. However, the release of the film has now been deferred to a later date. The makers are expected to announce the new release date soon.
