Akshay wants Gold to vacate the Independence Day slot for 2.0

Buzz has it that superstar Akshay Kumar has requested the makers of his forthcoming film Gold to push its release to another date. Directed by Reema Kagti, the period drama was scheduled to hit screens on 15th August 2018. But since the makers of Kumar’s another much-anticipated film 2.0 are also eyeing to roll out their movie on the same date, the actor wants to avoid the big box office clash between his own films at any cost and hence, has requested the makers of Gold to come on a different date.

“The release of Gold was postponed since the Rajinikanth starrer Robot 2.0, which was initially slated to release on April 27, was pushed to release on August 15. Now given the fact that Akshay Kumar features prominently in 2.0, it would not make sense for the actor to have two of his own films go head to head on the big screen. Hence to avoid this clash, Akshay Kumar has requested Excel Entertainment’s Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar to push the release of Gold, which of course the makers have adhered to,” reveals a source close to the development.

Gold revolves around a fictional story set against the backdrop of true incidents about India winning its first gold medal in hockey as a free nation in the 1948 Summer Olympics, while 2.0 is a sci-fi film, starring Akshay in an out-and-out negative role.

Though no official statement has been released by the makers of Gold and 2.0 announcing the reshuffle in release dates, insiders don’t deny the news.

Brooklyn Beckham told parents to contact him only through lawyers amid family rift

Highlights

  • Brooklyn Beckham requested that David and Victoria Beckham contact him only via lawyers during a period of strained relations
  • Legal letters were exchanged, though no formal action was taken
  • The request followed what Brooklyn viewed as damaging briefings about his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham
  • Both sides are said to be hoping for reconciliation, despite ongoing hurt

A breakdown that moved beyond private disagreement

Relations within the Beckham family deteriorated sharply last summer, reaching a point where Brooklyn Beckham asked his parents to communicate with him only through legal representatives. The request marked one of the most serious moments in an already strained relationship between the eldest Beckham son and his parents.

Sources say the instruction led to an exchange of letters between legal teams at Schillings, representing Brooklyn, and Harbottle & Lewis, who act for David and Victoria Beckham. While no legal proceedings were initiated, the correspondence made clear that Brooklyn did not want direct contact or public references to him from his parents, including on social media.
