Akshay inks a three-film deal with Fox Star; to start shooting for Mission Mangal soon

Superstar Akshay Kumar, who was most recently seen in the Reema Kagti-directed sports drama Gold (2018), is in no mood to slow down. The National Award-winning actor already has almost half a dozen projects on his platter and today he added three more films to the list.

Yes, Kumar’s production house Cape Of Good Films has signed a three-film deal with one of the leading film producing banners in India, Fox Star Studios. The partnership will kick-off with an ambitious film titled Mission Mangal.

As the title of the movie suggests itself, Mission Mangal will revolve around India’s mission to Mars which commenced in 2013. It is being touted as Bollywood’s first space adventure film.

Talking about the association with Fox Star Studios, Kumar said “I am delighted to find a new creative partner in Fox Star Studios and am looking forward to creating a collaboration that will deliver a meaningful and entertaining cinematic experience. With our combined energies, we hope to create content that not only excites but also empowers.”

As far as casting of the film is concerned, apart from Akshay Kumar, Mission Mangal will also star Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Nithya Menen and Taapsee Pannu among others.

The movie will be made in collaboration with renowned filmmaker R Balki who directed Kumar on PadMan (2018). The project will be helmed by debutant Jagan Shakti. The makers are planning to start the shoot in mid-November.

A film surrounded by noise

Sudha Kongara is among the few Tamil directors whose films carry a distinct voice. With Parasakthi, that voice has had to compete with chaos. Long before release, the film was caught in disputes over its title, shifting cast announcements, ED searches, plagiarism claims and, finally, a list of changes demanded by the Central Board of Film Certification.

In all that, the film itself risked becoming secondary. Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa and Sreeleela in her Tamil debut, retells the 1965 anti-Hindi imposition agitation in Tamil Nadu. The core of the film unfolds over just 19 days , from January 24–25 to February 12, 1965.
