Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan is one of the most awaited films of the year. The movie is a biopic on football coach Syed Abdul Rahim and it is set in the 50s and the 60s.

A few days ago, the makers had unveiled the first look posters of the film. The movie was slated to release on 27th November 2020. But it has now been delayed by two weeks. Maidaan will now release on 11th December 2020.

Ajay Devgn shared a new poster of the film on Instagram and announced the new release date. He captioned it as “#Maidaan will now release on 11.12.2020. @pillumani @gajrajrao #BoneyKapoor @iamitrsharma @freshlimefilms @saiwyn @rudyrudranil @writish1 @joysengupta04 @skyflierindian @saregama_official @zeestudiosofficial @zeestudiosintl #BayViewProjects @maidaanofficial.”

Maidaan was supposed to mark the Bollywood debut of South actress Keerthy Suresh. However, she opted out of the film a few days ago. It is said that Keerthy, who starred in a period film Mahanati (Tamil and Telugu) in 2018, wasn’t keen on doing one more period movie. Keerthy has been replaced by Priyamani in the film.

Maidaan is directed by Amit Sharma and produced by Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor.

Ajay Devgn kickstarted 2020 with a blockbuster like Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. Apart from Maidaan, he will also be seen this year in movies like RRR and Bhuj: The Pride of India. While the former is slated to release on 30th July 2020, the latter will hit the screens on 14th August 2020.
