Ajay Devgn and Keerthy Suresh starrer titled Maidaan, shooting starts today

It was a few months ago when it was announced that Ajay Devgn and Keerthy Suresh will be seen in a film which will be a biopic on Indian football coach and manager, Syed Abdul Rahim. The movie, which will be directed by Badhaai Ho fame Amit Sharma, is titled as Maidaan.

Ajay Devgn took to Twitter to share the first look poster of the film. He tweeted, “#maidaankicksoff today!”

While Ajay Devgn will be seen as Syed Abdul Rahim, it is said that Keerthy Suresh will be seen opposite the actor. Maidaan will mark Keerthy’s Bollywood debut and it started rolling today. The actress recently won Best Actress award at the National Film Awards for her performance in Mahanati.

While talking about her Bollywood debut, Keerthy had earlier told a daily, “I am elated and honoured to be a part of such a great story. This is a film that will make every Indian proud. I believe this is a story that doesn’t belong to any specific region or language of India but is a great Indian story that the world should know.”

The first look poster of the sports drama is quite good and it will be interesting to witness a movie on the history of Indian football. There have been many movies made on hockey and cricket, but not many filmmakers have explored football on the big screen.

Maidaan is being produced by Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla, and Arunava Joy Sengupta. It will be hitting the screens in 2020.

Apart from Maidaan, Ajay Devgn has some other interesting films like Taanaji - The Unsung Warrior and Bhuj: The Pride of India in his kitty. While the former is slated to release on 10th August 2020, the latter will hit the screens on Independence Day 2020.
