Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to reteam with Robot co-star Rajinikanth in Thalaivar 169

According to reports, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been approached to headline yet another Tamil film.

For those not in the know, the former beauty queen is presently waiting for the release of her much-anticipated Tamil period drama Ponniyin Selvan.


After the Mani Ratnam directorial, the actress will reportedly join forces with Robot (2010) co-star Rajinikanth in his next project, tentatively titled Thalaivar 169.

Some media outlets report that Aishwarya is expected to play the role of Rajinikanth’s wife in the film.

Nelson Dilipkumar, who last directed Beast (2022) featuring Vijay and Pooja Hegde, is onboard to helm the upcoming film. Anirudh Ravichander has been signed on to compose music.

In addition to Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the film will also see Ramya Krishna and Priyanka Arul Mohan in pivotal roles.

The team is looking at taking the project on floors in August 2022. They are aiming to release it in 2023. More details are expected to arrive soon.

Meanwhile, the teaser of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Ponniyin Selvan will be out in the first week of July, while the film will hit the big screen on September 30. The teaser launch ceremony will take place in the Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu. It will be unveiled at a grand stadium where the film stars and technical artists will also be present. Apart from them, a few more filmmakers will also be invited.

This film also stars Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Jayaram, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, and Ashwin Kakumanu. R. Sarathkumar, R. Parthiban, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, and others appear in supporting characters.

Regulator warns Air India over delayed emergency equipment checks: Report

INDIA’s aviation regulator has warned Air India for violating safety rules after three of its Airbus aircraft operated flights without undergoing mandatory checks on emergency escape slides, according to official documents reviewed by Reuters.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued warning notices and a detailed investigation report highlighting the breach. These documents were sent days before the recent crash of an Air India Boeing 787-8, in which all but one of the 242 people onboard were killed. The Airbus incidents are unrelated to that crash.

MPs to vote on assisted dying bill amid divided views

A CHINESE postgraduate student convicted of drugging and raping 10 women in the UK and China has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a London court.

Air India cuts international flights after deadly crash

AIR INDIA said on Wednesday (18) it will cut international operations on its widebody aircraft by 15 per cent for the next few weeks, citing ongoing safety inspections and operational disruptions following last week's deadly crash of one of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash of flight AI171, which killed 241 people and marked the world's deadliest aviation disaster in a decade.
