5 all-time films of Karan Johar

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is still one of them films which audiences still don’t mind watching again and again. Rahul and Anjali’s friendship which turns into love still gets used as an example. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was released in 1998, which gave Karan Johar the most success and became a known director. It also earned him the Filmfare awards for best director and best screenplay.

Kal Ho Na Ho

Kal Ho Na Ho is also another movie which you won’t get bored of watching all the time. It definitely brought tears to everyone’s eyes towards the end of the movie. Kal Ho Na Ho was released in 2003 but it is still worth watching if you haven’t. Johar sure loves working with the same people again and again hence he always takes Shah Rukh Khan for his male lead but we’re not complaining because who doesn’t like SRK.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is a film that shows how important it is to stay with your family. This was Johar’s second movie which he directed and it was released during the Diwali celebration in 2001. Like most of Johar’s movies, this is another movie that can be watched anytime, anywhere.  Even though, this film was released 16 years ago, it’s still loved by many people, whether they’re young or old. This film received many awards including Fimfare, IIFA, Valenciennes International Film Festival, Screen and Zee Cine Awards.

Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna

Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna was released in 2006, it marked 12 years this month. This film was ahead of its time and showed the audiences different dynamic of marriages.  There were many criticisms towards this movie because of its story line as many people thought it promoted extra marital affair but it was still loved by others. Just recently Karan Johar silenced the trolls by tweeting “A film that will always remain special to me! Had polarised responses but is discussed and probably understood better today! My dream cast @SrBachchan @iamsrk @juniorbachchan @realpreityzinta #Rani #12YearsOfKANK ” @karanjohar

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was released in 2016, which was Karan Johar’s latest most successful film. It is definitely a film which made everyone cry as the story line was amazing. Also Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor’s performance gave so much life to their character and engaged with the audiences well. Many say that this film’s storyline was kind of based on Karan Johar’s one sided love for Twinkle Khanna, as he said “she was the only girl” he was ever in love with.

Ajith's Vidaamuyarchi: Reviewers call movie a mixed bag of thrills and missed opportunities

Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi, directed by Magizh Thirumeni, has sparked a mixed bag of contrasting reactions since hitting theatres. The film attempts to fuse the nerve-wracking tension of Hollywood thrillers with the high-energy appeal of Tamil cinema, resulting in what can be called a cinematic cocktail that’s as intriguing as it is polarising. While many viewers praise its departure from formulaic storytelling, others find its execution uneven and even overly ambitious.

The praise
Many reviewers have applauded Vidaamuyarchi for breaking away from the typical “mass hero” template that we saw in Ajith’s recent films like Valimai and Thunivu. Gone are the days of over-the-top family sentiments, forced comedy, and preachy dialogues. Vidaamuyarchi opts for a slower, more atmospheric narrative, drawing comparisons to Western thrillers. The deliberate pacing, though again divisive, has been commended for its ability to build tension and offer a refreshing change from the usual high-octane Tamil blockbusters.
