Vishal Bhardwaj waiting for Irrfan Khan’s recovery to roll his next

Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, who has previously worked with national award-winning actor Irrfan Khan on the 2003 film Maqbool, was excited about joining forces with Khan once again. To be shot in Nepal and Mumbai, the untitled movie was a gangster drama, also featuring Deepika Padukone as the female lead.

However, as the entire team was gearing up to commence the shoot in Nepal, Irrfan Khan was diagnosed with a rare kind of brain cancer, which led the team to put the project on the backburner.

But now Irrfan is recovering, and Bhardwaj is hopeful to begin the movie as soon as the actor fly back to India. “The moment Irrfan recovers and comes back, we will start rolling. It will happen,” said the director while talking to an Indian daily.

He went on to add, “By God’s grace, he is recovering, and we are all praying for him. We hope he comes back soon and starts working.”

“I keep chatting with him, and these days he’s singing songs, recording them, and sending them on WhatsApp. He’s also watching cricket,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Bhardwaj is gearing himself up for the release of his next directorial venture, Patakha. The movie stars Sanya Malhotra, Radhika Madan and Sunil Grover. It releases on 28th September, 2018.
