Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has millions of followers on social media and he is one of the most sought after athletes by advertisers due to his role as an influencer. This has resulted in him claiming a prime spot in the list of sportsmen who charge the most for sponsored posts on social media app Instagram.

Kohli is ninth on the list, according to HopperHQ.com, and he can demand up to $120,000 (approx Rs 82 lakh) to share any sponsored post on social media.

The cricketer is ahead of Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry and Floyd Mayweather Jr., in Instagram riches.

Other sports personalities who have made it to the list include Cristiano Ronaldo, who rules the roost with $750,000 per post followed by Brazil's Neymar and Argentina's Lionel Messi with $600,000 and $500,000 respectively.

However, Ronaldo is third on the list behind television personality and beauty mogul Kylie Jenner and singer Selena Gomez.

Kohli is a role model for a lot of youngsters and this is a role he takes seriously, as it comes with a lot of responsibilities.

"Being a role model for the young people is no doubt a great feeling," he told IANS. "When people come up and say that they look up to you and they draw inspiration from you, it means a lot personally. But it also carries a huge responsibility as everything I do and say affects a lot of people," he added.

Talking about the secret behind his success story, Kohli said:"For me, discipline and hard work are top priorities. I am also passionate about learning, which means that I look at my past performance and wish to learn from my mistakes. These are some of the things that I hope get picked up by my fans."
