Varun Dhawan opens up about the failure of Kalank, says it affected him

Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, and Aditya Roy Kapur starrer Kalank released in April this year. The film turned out to be a flop at the box office and recently Varun spoke about the failure of the movie.

While talking to a news agency, he said, "It affected me. The film wasn't liked by the audience. And it deserved not to do well. It is very clear if the audience likes a film it should do well and they did not like Kalank. It is learning for me. I have processed it and learned what I had to from it and (I am taking it in stride).”

"Sometimes something doesn't work and then overall things go wrong. It is for the first time I went through failure and it had to affect me. If it did not affect me, it would mean I don't love my films. I love my films to death. I am glad it affected me. Now I am in a good space. And I am excited about my next film Street Dancer and looking forward to doing Coolie No 1," the actor added.

While Varun has been a part of films that were semi-hits and average at the box office, it was for the first time when a movie starring him turned out to be a flop at the box office.

Varun’s next release is Street Dancer in which he collaborates with the team of ABCD 2. The movie is being directed by Remo D’Souza and stars Shraddha Kapoor opposite film. ABCD 2 was a blockbuster at the box office, so the expectations from Street Dancer are also quite high. The film will be releasing during the Republic Day weekend next year and it will be clashing with Kangana Ranaut’s Panga.

The actor also has the remake of Coolie No. 1 which will be directed by his father David Dhawan. The movie stars Sara Ali Khan as the female lead. This will be Varun’s third collaboration with his father. It is slated to release on 1st May 2020.
