University Challenge viral stars land BBC series

A PAIR of ex-University Challenge contestants will tour the UK looking for innovative technological achievements in a new BBC show.

Bobby Seagull and Eric Monkman went viral in the 2017 series of the popular show which sees rival university teams go head to head.

Monkman became known for his distinctive facial expressions whilst Seagull’s surname and his east London accent caught the attention of viewers.

The Cambridge graduates will present Monkman And Seagull's Genius Guide to Britain, it was announced on Thursday (16). It will be a four-part series shown on BBC Two.

The show will see the duo explore the best of British ingenuity including the deep-fried Mars bar and the world's smallest museum.

Seagull said the beauty of their friendship was down to their shared curiosity about the world.

Monkman, from Canada, added: “Curiosity is an approach to life. The more you know, the more you realise you don't know...I look forward to learning more about Britain's scientific discoveries and to sharing what I learn with everyone.”

Three in ten GPs use AI in consultations, study finds

A NEW study has found that almost three in ten GPs across the UK are now using artificial intelligence (AI) in their daily work, such as tools like ChatGPT, but they are doing so without clear national safety rules.

The research, led by the Nuffield Trust thinktank, revealed a quick shift in healthcare, with 28 per cent of GPs already using AI in their practice. This figure is highest in England, where nearly a third (31 per cent) of doctors are using it, compared to 20 per cent in Scotland and just nine per cent in Northern Ireland.
