UK announces additional flights to airlift citizens from India

THE UK government has arranged a second round of charter flights from India to bring home British nationals who are stuck in the country following the lockdown.

These flights will be operating from April 14 to 20 from various destinations across India.


This is in addition to the seven flights already announced from Goa, Mumbai and New Delhi.

The flights will be departing from Goa (April 14,16 and via Mumbai on April 18), Amritsar (April 16, 17, 18, 19), Ahmedabad (April 15), Hyderabad (April 17), Chennai via Bengaluru (April 20), Kolkata via Delhi (April 19).

British travellers should take the earliest available opportunity to return to the UK by visiting the booking portal for their respective cities to reserve seats, an official statement said.

Any British national travelling in Kerala, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode, Ooty, Nagercoil, Madurai who wishes to return to the UK from Trivandrum (via Kochi) on 15 April should reserve their seats immediately using the links above, it said.

The UK government is also providing assistance for citizens who could not pay the cost of the ticket.

NEW DELHI's iconic auto-rickshaws have received a Donald Trump-themed makeover to mark the United States' 250th Independence celebrations and the upcoming India visit of secretary of state Marco Rubio, but not everyone is a fan.
