Tory Peer Lord Sheikh marries former waitress 45-years his junior

A Muslim peer who divorced his wife of 25 years has married a Uzbek former waitress 45-years his junior.

Mohamed Iltaf Sheikh, 77, met 32-year-old Guli Muradova in a cafe in 2013 where she worked. They developed a close relationship which irked his then wife Lady Shaida Shiekh.

Muradova moved back to Uzbekistan but muti-millionaire Lord Sheikh pursued her and the pair were to wed in an Islamic ceremony in London in December 2012.

Though that ceremony didn’t go-ahead, Lord Sheikh divorced his first wife to maintain his relationship with Muradova and went onto marry her at Lambeth Register Office this month.

Lord Sheikh, who made his fortune in the insurance industry, held the wedding celebrations at the five-star Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane. It is not known if any members of his family attended the wedding. The Tory peer has a daughter who is 15-years older than his new bride.

Muradova has already proclaimed herself as ‘Lady Guli’ stating on her website: “Lady Guli became happily married to Lord Mohamed Sheikh in 2018 and she has a wonderful and trusting relationship with her husband.”

The couple have also attended several official functions together at foreign embassies in London and posted photographs from the events on her website.

Lord Sheikh, who founded the Conservative Muslim Forum, made headlines last August when he said he had received ‘vile’ Islamophobic emails after calling for Boris Johnson to be removed from the Conservative Party for suggesting veiled Muslim women resembled ‘letter boxes’ and ‘bank robbers’.

Government unveils stricter visa rules, to take effect from July 22

THE GOVERNMENT on Tuesday introduced the first set of tougher immigration rules in the House of Commons aimed at reducing the recruitment of foreign skilled workers, including in the care sector. The new measures are described as a “complete reset” of the UK’s immigration system.

The proposed changes, originally outlined in an ‘Immigration White Paper’ in May, include raising the skills and salary thresholds for foreign workers — including those from India — ending overseas recruitment for care worker roles, and removing more than 100 occupations, such as chefs and plasterers, from the shortage occupation list that currently allows certain visa exemptions.
