Theatrical and music rights of Alia Bhatt and Salman Khan’s Inshallah already sold

Though Inshallah, which marks the reunion of superstar Salman Khan and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali after a huge gap of two decades, is yet to hit the shooting floor, the movie has already started creating ripples in showbiz.

To be made on a lavish scale, Inshallah is being touted as one of the biggest releases of 2020. What makes the project even more special is the fact that supremely talented Alia Bhatt has also come onboard to work on what is set to be her first film with Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.


Though the film is months away from beginning production, we hear that its theatrical and music rights have already been sold. Since Inshallah stars Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt in lead roles and is directed by visionary filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the kind of figures it has fetched is unheard of until now.

According to reports, the domestic and overseas theatrical rights of Inshallah have been sold to a new firm for a whooping ₹ 250 crore. As for the music rights, Saregama, one of the leading music labels, has bought the rights for ₹ 30 crore.

Inshallah is scheduled to buzz into theatres on Eid 2020.

Saif Ali Khan has spoken about stepping away from wedding performances, saying the mix of wealth, access and social circles makes him uncomfortable. The actor said in a recent interview that the shift began years ago, after a relative questioned why he was dancing at a private event.

Saif Ali Khan remembered being backstage in Mumbai when his father’s sister walked up and said she could not believe he was dancing at a wedding. The remark stung, and it stayed with him. He said that some actors see themselves as entertainers and are happy to turn up, take the fee and move on. However, he has stopped feeling that way.
