Sony TV's CID clocks 20 years of successful run

One of the most loved cop-shows on Indian television, CID has just created history by clocking 20 years of its successful run on Sony Entertainment Television. Produced by Fireworks Productions, the show will complete 20 years of run after airing its latest episode today on 27 January.

The show began its journey in the late 1990s and, within no time, became one of the most watched series on television. All actors who have been a regular part of the series have become a household name today.

Daya (Dayanand Shetty), ACP Pradyuman (Shivaji Satam), Senior Inspector Abhijeet (Aditya Srivastav), Inspector Fredricks (Dinesh Phadnis) are some of the characters who have been there in the show since its first episode, which aired on 21st January 1998.

“It has been 20 years and there is no show in the world to have marked such an inning with an intact core team. We are fortunate and now when I think of it, everything fell into place...I think this was destined! This happens once in a lifetime. We are working together from 1998 and it is not always that such a thing happens,” said Dayanand Shetty who plays Daya on the show.

A proud and overjoyed Shivaji shared, “It is a huge achievement! It is a rare accomplishment and we are blessed. We have completed 20 years and we are still batting...standing at the crease more confidently than before. No show can sustain if the characters aren’t loved and it is only because of the people who watch us that we would attain this feat of completing 20 years! Sometimes I feel that God also must be watching CID else it wouldn’t be possible to reach where we are today.”
