Sonam Kapoor to headline a Korean remake?

2019 has not been a fruitful year for Sonam Kapoor, as for as her box-office report card is concerned. The actress started the year with the release of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (2019) wherein she played a woman in the same-sex relationship and seeking acceptance of her father and family. Though critics praised the film to no end, it did not set the cash registers jingling.

Her next release was the much-delayed The Zoya Factor (2019) which was based on renowned author Anuja Chauhan’s hit novel of the same name. Also starring southern superstar Dulquer Salmaan, the movie tanked at the box-office without a trace and incurred heavy losses for the makers.

But if latest reports are to be revealed, Sonam Kapoor has bagged a new interesting project. Reportedly, the actress has been cast to play the female lead in the Hindi remake of popular South Korean film Blind (2011) which originally featured Kim Ha-neul and Yoo Seung-ho in lead roles.

Well-known filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh, who is known for delivering several successful thrillers in his prolific career, has acquired the remake rights of the 2011 crime thriller. According to reports, Ghosh has joined forces with Viacom18 Motion Pictures to bankroll the remake. Shome Majhika will call the shots for it.

Though an official announcement confirming the development is yet to be made, the report suggests that the work on the remake has already begun and it is currently at the scripting stage. The remaining cast of the film is yet to be locked.
