Singers who failed to make a mark as actors

Nowadays many Bollywood actors are trying their hands into singing. While some of them are amazing singers, some of them don’t really impress us with their singing skills. Actors-turning-singers have been a debate as some of the singers feel that an actor should act and not sing. However, let’s not forget that there are singers too who have tried their luck as actors.

Today, let’s look at the list of singers who turned actors, but unfortunately failed to make a mark…

Himesh Reshammiya

The first in the list has to be Himesh Reshammiya. The singer used to feature in his own singles, but it was 2007 when he decided to make his big screen debut with Aap Kaa Surror. Though his acting skills were panned by critics, surprisingly, the film went on to become a hit. And then we all faced the torture with movies like Karzzzz, Radio, Kajraare, The Xposé and others. Well, Himesh has three films lined up Jatt Butt Juliet, Main Jahaan Rahoon and The Xposé Returns. God save us!

Lucky Ali

Lucky Ali has sung some wonderful songs like Gori Teri Aankhen, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum and others. He also featured as an actor in a few films in the 70s and 80s. But then took a break from acting before making his comeback with movies like Kaante and Sur-The Melody of Life in 2002. Ali starred a few more films, but none of them did any wonders for him.

Sonu Nigam

Sonu Nigam is undoubtedly one of the best singers in Bollywood. He has sung some amazing songs like Sandese Aate Hai, Suraj Hua Maddham, Saathiya, Kal Ho Naa Ho and others. But just to disappoint his fans he starred in some weird movies titled Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani, Kash Aap Hamare Hote, and Love in Nepal.

Aditya Narayan

Aditya Narayan featured as a child artist in a couple of films like Pardes and Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai. In the latter, his performance was also quite appreciated. But when he made his Bollywood debut as an adult with the film Shaapit, he failed to impress the audiences. Aditya is nowadays doing reality shows on the small screen.

Yo Yo Honey Singh

There was a time in between when mostly every Bollywood movie had a song composed and sung by Yo Yo Honey Singh. From Sunny Sunny to Chaar Botal Vodka, his songs were a rage. But then, he too moved his ways towards acting and starred in a movie alongside Himesh Reshammiya. We are talking about The Xpose. Thankfully, Yo Yo Honey is back to doing what he good at.

Abhijeet Sawant

Remember Abhijeet Sawant, the winner of Indian Idol season one. Well, after winning the reality show he sang a few songs in Bollywood films and then in 2009, he made his acting debut with a film titled Lottery. The movie went unnoticed and nowadays, we have no idea what Abhijeet is doing.

Mika Singh

While so many singers had made their acting debut, so how can Mika Singh stay behind? He has starred in movies like Loot and Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya. While no one remembers when the former came and went, the latter was in the news as it featured Sunny Leone in one of the songs. By the way, Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya also starred Shaan in the lead role. Thankfully, even he understood acting is not his cup of tea.

Soon, Badshah will also be making his acting debut with Sonakshi Sinha starrer Khandaani Shafakhana and let’s hope we don’t need to put him in this list.

Jameela Jamil says Pixar’s ‘Elio’ is the hope young people need in a chaotic world

At a time when the world feels chaotic and heavy, Disney Pixar’s Elio arrives with a message that couldn’t be more relevant: kids matter, and they’re stronger than they realise.

The animated film, which had its star-studded premiere in Los Angeles this week, follows an 11-year-old boy who accidentally becomes Earth’s ambassador in outer space. Directed by Madeline Sharafian and Domee Shi, Elio is Pixar’s first feature with a Mexican-Dominican lead, voiced by Yonas Kibreab. His character’s journey from an outsider on Earth to a confident connector among aliens mirrors what many young people feel today: lost, overlooked, and searching for belonging.

From Hogwarts to headlines, the real cost of childhood fame for Harry Potter’s new stars

As HBO prepares to bring Harry Potter back to screens with a new television adaptation, excitement is high around the casting of Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout as the iconic trio of Harry, Hermione, and Ron. But amid the buzz, a quiet voice of caution has emerged. Chris Watson, father of original Hermione actress Emma Watson, is urging parents and the industry to tread carefully when it comes to child stardom.

Chris Watson is not speaking as a critic or industry insider but as someone who watched his daughter grow up inside a global franchise. Emma was nine when she landed the role of Hermione Granger, and what followed was a decade of public attention that reshaped her life. Her father remembers the shift vividly. “Her homework would go back to school on motorbikes,” he once said, pointing to the surreal logistics fame forced on them.

Najmuddin Saifuddin & Brothers deliver a soul-stirring qawwali masterclass across the UK

Qawwali remains popular with cross-cultural audiences, but very few get the chance to experience one of the world’s oldest music genres in its purest form. Whether it is the diluted style seen in Bollywood adaptations or fusion with contemporary sounds, the tradition is often watered down.

Najmuddin Saifuddin & Brothers Qawwali Group stand apart from that commercialised crowd, presenting the Sufi genre in its most authentic style. The five talented brothers – sons of the late qawwali icon Ustad Bahauddin Khan Qawwal – belong to a remarkable lineage that traces directly back to the first group formed by the genre’s founding father in the 13th century.
