Shahid Kapoor to romance Rashmika Mandanna in his next?

After the thunderous success of Kabir Singh (2019), Shahid Kapoor has been offered a number of films from leading filmmakers. Apart from several original scripts, the superstar has also been offered some remakes of South Indian movies, one of them being the official remake of Telugu film Jersey (2019), which released a couple of months ago and became an instant hit at the box-office.

Though Shahid Kapoor is yet to confirm whether or not he is headlining the Hindi remake of Jersey, some industry insiders reveal that the actor has indeed given her nod to the project. The latest update on the remake is that South Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna is reportedly set to make her Bollywood debut with the remake.

The rumour mills suggest that she may be seen opposite Shahid Kapoor in the official remake of Jersey. A source in the know told an entertainment portal, “Shahid and the makers met and they were brainstorming on who could be cast as the heroine and they all thought of Kannada actress Rashmika Mandanna who is a huge star already.”

The source went on to add that Rashmika has watched Jersey and also expressed an interest in the Hindi remake. "The producers were on the lookout for a fresh face and if Rashmika gives her nod, this will also mark her Hindi debut. She has watched Jersey and given how Kabir Singh has fared at the ticket windows, she has also expressed an interest in the Hindi remake. But the modalities and remunerations need to be finalised for now. The makers are planning to roll out the film by November this year," the source added.

Rashmika Mandanna was most recently seen in Telugu film Dear Comrade (2019) opposite heartthrob Vijay Deverakonda. Interestingly, that film is being remade in Hindi by Dharma Productions’ head honcho Karan Johar.
