Sadiq Khan hits out at Trump, calls him a 'six-foot-three child'

THE WAR of words between London mayor Sadiq Khan and US president Donald Trump shows no sign of ending.

Khan on Saturday (22) fired his latest insult at Trump, calling him a "six-foot-three child in the White House."

Trump had earlier called Khan a "stone cold loser" and mocked his height in a tweet sent before he arrived in the UK earlier this month for a state visit.

"@SadiqKhan, who by all accounts has done a terrible job as Mayor of London, has been foolishly 'nasty' to the visiting President of the United States, by far the most important ally of the United Kingdom," Trump said on Twitter shortly before Air Force One landed at Stansted Airport near London earlier this month.

"He is a stone-cold loser who should focus on crime in London, not me."

The US president also called Khan a "disaster" and a "national disgrace who is destroying the city of London."

Attending an event in Westminster’s Central Hall on Saturday, Khan joked that he had made sure to switch his phone off.

He added: “For those of you that have your phones on, if somebody starts tweeting about me – a 6ft 3 child in the White House – can you let me know?”

Last week, Tory leadership hopeful Jeremy Hunt said he agreed with Trump's assessment of Khan's record on handling knife crime.

Hunt said that while the president "has his own style," he "would not use those words myself."

He added: “But the sentiment is enormous disappointment that we have a mayor of London who has completely failed to tackle knife crime and has spent more time on politics than the actual business of making Londoners safer and in that I 150 per cent agree with the president.”
