Rohit Shetty and team head off to Goa to begin prep for Sooryavanshi

After delivering one of the highest grossers of 2018, in the form of Simmba, hit filmmaker Rohit Shetty has now commenced work on his next directorial venture Sooryavanshi, starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role.

Today, Shetty and his team flew off to Goa to begin the prep for the cop drama. The filmmaker and his crew are working on the scripting of the movie.


Rohit shared a picture along with his team on his social media page and captioned it as, "Mission SOORYAVANSHI En route Goa." The director and his team looked ecstatic as they flew to Goa.

Sooryavanshi stars Akshay Kumar as an Anti-Terrorist Squad chief named Veer Sooryavanshi.

The makers are presently looking for the female lead opposite Kumar. Though several names have been thrown around in the last few days, including Pooja Hegde, Katrina Kaif and Sonam Kapoor, the makers are yet to lock the actress for the role.

Sooryavanshi is scheduled to buzz into cinemas in December.

Saif Ali Khan has spoken about stepping away from wedding performances, saying the mix of wealth, access and social circles makes him uncomfortable. The actor said in a recent interview that the shift began years ago, after a relative questioned why he was dancing at a private event.

Saif Ali Khan remembered being backstage in Mumbai when his father’s sister walked up and said she could not believe he was dancing at a wedding. The remark stung, and it stayed with him. He said that some actors see themselves as entertainers and are happy to turn up, take the fee and move on. However, he has stopped feeling that way.
