Preity Zinta and Vir Das to guest star in an episode of Fresh Off The Boat

Priyanka Chopra made a mark in the American television industry with Quantico, and now, it looks like Preity Zinta and Vir Das are all set to follow the desi girl's footsteps. According to a report in Deadline, Preity and Vir will guest star in an episode of Fresh Off The Boat which will lead to a spin-off of the series titled Magic Motor Inn.

In one of the upcoming episodes of Fresh Off The Boat, we will get to see an Indian family whose daughter attends school with Eddie. While Preity will be seen playing the role of the girl’s mother Meena, Vir will be portraying the character of her father DC. It is said that the episode will be shot next month.

Currently, the sixth season of Fresh Off The Boat airs on ABC in the US. The spin-off will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Indian-American writer Rachna Fruchbom will serve as the executive producer along with Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar.

Preity Zinta has proved her mettle as an actor in Bollywood with films like Kya Kehna, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Veer-Zaara, and others. Her Bollywood career is not at its peak right now. She was last seen on the big screen in Bhaiaji Superhit which was a disaster at the box office. She will next be seen in Ashutosh Gowariker’s production venture.

Meanwhile, Vir Das has already starred in an American series titled Whiskey Cavalier which was aired earlier this year on ABC. He has made a mark in Bollywood with films like 31st October, Mastizaade, Go Goa Gone, Delhi Belly and others.  It will surely be interesting to watch Preity and Vir together on the small screen.

TroyBoi returns to his Indian roots with Rootz EP using Lata Mangeshkar’s voice to redefine British diaspora music

Highlights:

  • TroyBoi’s five-track EP Rootz is a personal return to the sounds of his childhood, released via Ultra Records in September 2025.
  • The single Kabhi uses an officially cleared sample of Lata Mangeshkar’s vocal from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
  • Collaborations with Amrit Maan, Jazzy B and BombayMami plug Punjabi, Bhangra and south-Asian textures directly into modern trap and bass production.
  • This EP is part of a wider wave: British artists born into diasporas are using heritage not as garnish but as foundation.

Some albums hit you in ways you don’t see coming. Rootz is one of them. Not just another trap EP. TroyBoi, the London-born producer known for global bass and trap, has made something that’s also deeply personal. He didn’t just want to make music that bangs in clubs; instead, he wanted to reach back to the India of his childhood. And he did it with Rootz.

The track everyone’s talking about is Kabhi. Because it’s not just sampling Bollywood. Lata Mangeshkar’s voice was officially cleared for use on a non-Bollywood release, a milestone reported by multiple outlets. It’s history. It’s memory. And it’s a bridge.
