After Padmaavat Sanjay Leela Bhansali to helm a musical film

After the spectacular success of his recent release, Padmaavat, distinguished filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is set to begin work on his next magnum opus. However, unlike his past few films, his next directorial will be a musical.

According to reports, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, the producers behind Padmaavat, has alotted a massive budget of INR 150-175 crores to Bhansali's next film. Though it sounds a whopping budget, it is less than what the makers had spent on the making of Padmaavat. The period film was made on a humongous budget of 180 crores.

“It will be yet another big-budgeted musical epic. Bhansali can’t think small — even when his films have been designed as modestly budgeted as Black and Guzaarish were, they have turned out to be massive in scale. Ideally, after Padmaavat, Bhansali would like to do something smaller. But he can’t. Viacom is already looking at a budget of approximately Rs. 150 crore to Rs 175 crore for their next film with Sanjay,” says a report published in an Indian daily.

Apart from lavish sets and elaborate costumes, all Bhansali films boast of the great star cast. So, it will be really interesting to see who Bhansali casts in his next production. Will he repeat the magical pair of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone? Well, only time will tell who headlines his next mega-budgeted movie.
