The arts enrich and give meaning to our lives. They are a fundamental part of the social and cultural fabric which holds our nation together, and artists from the South Asian community have had a profound influence on Britain’s rich cultural scene.

This is set to be recognised at the new Eastern Eye Arts, Culture & Theatre Awards (ACTA) which is an exciting event showcasing the very best of Asian talent in the creative arts.

So whether you’re an actor, author, dancer or artist, we’re looking to recognise the huge contribution you and others in the arts make to Britain.

The awards ceremony will take place at one of the country’s most prestigious arts venues, London’s Southbank Centre during Alchemy Festival which celebrates the rich cultural relationship between the UK and South Asia.

TUBERCULOSIS cases in England rose by 2.1 per cent in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, according to provisional data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).

A total of 1,266 notifications were recorded between January and March, continuing an upward trend for the third consecutive year.

UK says ready to help India and Pakistan de-escalate tensions

THE UK is ready to support both India and Pakistan in de-escalating tensions following deadly clashes between the two countries, trade secretary Jonathan Reynolds said on Wednesday.

“Our message would be that we are a friend, a partner to both countries. We stand ready to support them. Both have a huge interest in regional stability, in dialogue, in de-escalation and anything we can do to support that, we are here and willing to do,” Reynolds told BBC radio.
