My Pod with Shide Boss

By Asjad Nazir.

TALENTED singer Shide Boss has delivered acclaimed releases including his debut album. For The Culture and a number of hit songs. The British star has more big tunes on the

way. Eastern Eye got him to select 10 songs he loves right now (in no particular order)...

Sapna by Shide Boss: This song from my album For The Culture represents a cool fusion

of English, r’n’b and Punjabi lyrics. It’s just a song that represents feelings and emotions,

simply yet effectively. It is a complete vibe.

Mere Naal by Shide Boss: Another track from my debut album signifies a lot to me. For the first time, it’s also the song that I directed my own music video too!

Women by Shide Boss Ft. Zack Knight: This is a song that is just a banger! It’s so popular and played everywhere. I love the fact that the song came about from one studio session and just kicked it!

Tu Te Mein by Shide Boss Ft. Pavvan: Right now this song is out, and like all my tracks on my album I have to love it to release it. I love this song for the honesty you feel when you hear it, and the harmonies!

You’re The One by Shide Boss and Chip: This right here was a project that was unheard of. The record company sorted out this collaboration with Chip, they liked the track and the

rest was history. Grime met fusion! This song to me signifies a moment where the unimaginable became a reality. The track is a banger and really innovative.

Jaded by Drake: This song from his album is so underrated! I love the flow on this. I always liked Drake from time, but this is where his flow is just on another level.

Bille Jean by Michael Jackson: This man is a genius and his music inspired me to write.

This is just one track of many that I like. From his writing to his singing, his music career is

one that you can’t touch. This song is so significant to the start of me becoming a singer

and songwriter.

Where are you now? by Justin Bieber: This is one track from many of Bieber’s songs that I enjoy, so to pick one has been hard! The tracks that have been produced and put out in his older years are sick.

Waiting by Shide Boss: I wrote and sang this song. The words and all the emotions behind were set to connect and they did. This song was produced by Marcus James, and to this day it sounds as fresh as the first time we recorded it. Once someone said they stopped in their tracks when they listened to it on their earphones for the first time, and that just meant the song had done its duty as it moved them. Very proud of this track!

Rainbow by Shide Boss: This track is just a classic. It comes out of the vault always. That’s where the most precious things are kept. This track is loved by my die-hard fans and the music I make is for them. If you remember Rainbow, you know where the boy’s been and where he’s going.

From Hogwarts to headlines, the real cost of childhood fame for Harry Potter’s new stars

As HBO prepares to bring Harry Potter back to screens with a new television adaptation, excitement is high around the casting of Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout as the iconic trio of Harry, Hermione, and Ron. But amid the buzz, a quiet voice of caution has emerged. Chris Watson, father of original Hermione actress Emma Watson, is urging parents and the industry to tread carefully when it comes to child stardom.

Chris Watson is not speaking as a critic or industry insider but as someone who watched his daughter grow up inside a global franchise. Emma was nine when she landed the role of Hermione Granger, and what followed was a decade of public attention that reshaped her life. Her father remembers the shift vividly. “Her homework would go back to school on motorbikes,” he once said, pointing to the surreal logistics fame forced on them.

Najmuddin Saifuddin & Brothers deliver a soul-stirring qawwali masterclass across the UK

Qawwali remains popular with cross-cultural audiences, but very few get the chance to experience one of the world’s oldest music genres in its purest form. Whether it is the diluted style seen in Bollywood adaptations or fusion with contemporary sounds, the tradition is often watered down.

Najmuddin Saifuddin & Brothers Qawwali Group stand apart from that commercialised crowd, presenting the Sufi genre in its most authentic style. The five talented brothers – sons of the late qawwali icon Ustad Bahauddin Khan Qawwal – belong to a remarkable lineage that traces directly back to the first group formed by the genre’s founding father in the 13th century.
