PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week showcases ‘the beauty of diversity’

THE recent PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week in Lahore had noted designers and emerging talent in Pakistan fashion, showcasing contemporary bridal couture across three days filled with fabulous outfits.

Various designers drew inspirations from diverse influences to offer contemporary attire for the modern-day couple looking to tie the knot.

The first day opened with a group bridal showcase featuring Nomi Ansari, Hussain Rehar and Rema & Shehrbano, followed by two eye-catching solo bridal shows.

Designer duo Saira-Shakira showcased their collection Fairuza, which featured 30 ensembles with an enriching colour palette from nudes to reds, with actress Saba Qamar as the celebrity showstopper.

Ali Xeeshan Theater Studio rounded off the first day with the bridal collection titled Ijaazat, which combined skilled craftsmanship with chic design details.

The second day started with early evening group bridal showcases featuring Lajwanti, Rici Melion, FAS and Ahmad Bilal. There were also group bridal collections on show from Misha Lakhani, Zainab Salman and Jeem by Hamza Bokhari and a group bridal finale that showcasing outfits from Farah & Fatima and The House of Kamiar Rokni.

The highlight of the second day was Nida Azwer’s collection Rani Bagh, which drew inspiration from the royal courts and gardens of the Mughal era. It stayed true to Azwer’s love for birds and horses, which were finely intertwined with delicate florals and paisleys.

The final day began with group bridal showcases featuring Tabya Khan, Ahmad Sultan, Mehroze Saboor and IVY Couture. This was followed by bridal exhibits including a solo show by Faraz Manan, a group bridal showcase of outfits from Nickie Nina, Hira Ali Studios as sponsored by the PFDC and Republic by Omar Farooq. The evening ended with a grand finale solo showcase from Pakistan’s iconic couturier HSY with a brand new collection titled Zmarei (or lioness in Pashto), which paid tribute to the powerful, modern woman of today.

Dangerous baby pillows

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued an urgent warning to parents and businesses about a new variant of dangerous baby self-feeding products that now feature animal head-shaped pillows.

These controversial devices are designed to allow babies to bottle feed with little or no assistance from a caregiver. The products present a risk of serious harm or death from choking on the feed or aspiration pneumonia, according to the government safety watchdog.
