Karan Johar to remake Telugu romcom Bheeshma with Ranbir Kapoor?

Tinsel town of Bollywood is buzzing with reports that Dharma Productions’ head honcho Karan Johar has acquired the remake rights of superhit Telugu film Bheeshma (2020). Starring Nithiin and Rashmika Mandanna in prominent roles, the romcom hit theatres on 21st February, 2020, and turned out to be an instant hit at the box-office.

The latest update on the remake is that KJo is planning to rope in Ranbir Kapoor to step into the role which Nithiin essayed in the original. Kapoor is already working with Karan on his most ambitious fantasy drama Brahmastra, which is being directed by Ayan Mukerji.

If the actor agrees to headline the Bheeshma remake, it will be his fifth collaboration with Dharma Productions after Wake Up Sid (2009), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) and the yet-to-be-released film Brahmastra.

A leading entertainment magazine reports that Karan Johar is quite excited about producing Bheeshma in Hindi. The filmmaker, as we all know, has been backing a number of South Indian films lately.

He is currently producing a film starring southern heartthrob Vijay Deverakonda alongside newcomer Ananya Panday. Tentatively titled Fighter, the film is being helmed by well-known South Indian filmmaker Puri Jagannadh. KJo is co-producing it with Charmy Kaur and Puri Jagannadh. The shoot of the film was going on in full swing in Mumbai, but it had to be stopped in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.

We also hear that Johar’s much-awaited directorial Takht and production venture Dostana 2 are on the verge of being shelved amidst the Coronavirus pandemic which has engulfed the whole world in terror and panic.
