Kapoor family matriarch Krishna Raj passes away

Krishna Raj Kapoor, wife of legendary actor Raj Kapoor, passed away on Monday (1) due to cardiac arrest. She was 87.

"My mother passed away at about 5 am today due to cardiac arrest... Old age was another factor. We are deeply saddened by her demise," son Randhir said.

In May 1946, Raj Kapoor married Krishna Malhotra and the couple had five children -- three sons, Randhir, Rishi and Rajiv, and two daughters, Ritu and Rima.

She was the sister of renowned actors Rajendra Nath, Prem Nath and Narendra Nath. Her sister Uma is married to veteran actor Prem Chopra.

The last rites will be performed at Chembur crematorium, Randhir said.

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni took to Instagram to pay tributes to her grandmother.

"I love you - I will always love you - RIP dadi," Sahni captioned two photographs with her.

Bollywood personalities such as Soha Ali Khan, Raveena Tandon and Anupam Kher, among others took to social media to offer condolences.

Soha paid respects and called Kapoor "an incredible personality full of life and passion".

"I am so sorry to hear of the passing of #KrishnaRajKapoor. The few times I interacted with her were so memorable; she was an incredible personality full of life and passion and with never a hair out place! She will be missed greatly. My deepest condolences to the family," she wrote.

Raveena, who was one of the first film personalities to react to Kapoor's death, described her demise as the end of an era.

"Condolences to the entire Kapoor family. An era passes away,#KrishnaRajKapoor. God give you strength, and may the soul rest in peace. Om Shanti," she wrote, tagging Kapoor's son Rishi Kapoor, who is currently in the US for medical treatment.

"Deeply saddened to learn about the sad demise of Smt #KrishnaRajKapoorJi. She was one of the most dignified and affectionate ladies that I met. May her soul rest in peace. My condolences to the entire Kapoor and Nanda family. Om Shanti," Anupam Kher wrote on the microblogging site.

Orlando Bloom told Katy Perry her space trip looked 'ridiculous' say insiders as breakup rumours intensify

Things seem rocky between long-time couple Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, with new reports suggesting an argument about Perry’s recent space flight may have added fuel to an already burning fire.

The pop star, who joined an all-female crew for a Blue Origin flight in April, reportedly didn’t get the reaction she hoped for from Bloom. A source claims the actor called the trip “embarrassing” and “ridiculous” during a heated exchange, leaving Perry hurt and confused by the lack of support. Ed Sheeran teams up with John Mayer and Dave Grohl for rock anthem in Brad Pitt’s 'F1' movie

British singer Ed Sheeran is shifting lanes musically. Known for his emotional ballads and acoustic pop, Sheeran has taken a bold turn into rock territory with Drive, a gritty new single written for Brad Pitt’s upcoming Formula One film, F1. The track, released ahead of the film’s 27 June global premiere, shows the singer ditching his usual gentle strumming for loud guitar riffs, pounding drums, and full-throttle energy.

A rock track built for speed and the screen

Sheeran shared that he was invited to write a song for the film and immediately knew he wanted it to feel like a proper “driving song”, something loud, intense, and worthy of the speed and thrill of Formula One. He teamed up with guitarist John Mayer and producer Blake Slatkin to bring that vision to life. The result? A track with Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl on drums, Pino Palladino on bass, and Rami Jaffee on keys. It’s an all-star crew of rock musicians who helped Sheeran hit the accelerator.

The remake era is dead: Aamir Khan’s 'Sitare Zameen Par' proves Bollywood must move on

This week sees the release of Aamir Khan’s new film Sitare Zameen Par. Marketed as a ‘spiritual sequel’ to the multi-award-winning 2007 drama Taare Zameen Par, the film is in fact a remake of the 2018 Spanish movie Campeones — and it appears to be packed with copied moments from start to finish.

Social media users have already forensically compared the trailer with the original and pointed out identical scenes, alerting Hindi cinema fans to the 2023 American remake (Champions) and a 2022 German version (Weil wir Champions sind).
