Kapil Dev to train Ranveer Singh for Kabir Khan’s 83

The makers of the forthcoming Hindi film 83 have revealed that legendary cricketer Kapil Dev has agreed to train Ranveer Singh in the month of November. 83, which stars Singh in the role of Kapil Dev, is set against the backdrop of the 1983 World Cup win by Indian cricket team.

"Ranveer will start prepping from November. Kabir (Khan) and he are in touch with Kapil, who will fly down to Mumbai for a week in November to help Ranveer prep for the role,” says co-producer Vishnu Induri.

While Ranveer had been finalized to play Dev way before the project was announced officially in 2017, other actors for important characters are yet to be locked. Induri says that the team will sign the remaining cast soon.

He also confirms that just like Ranveer Singh, other members of the cast will also get to spend some quality time with their muse. "Every actor will be spending quality time with their muse. The members of the 83 team have come on board as consultants."

To be helmed by renowned filmmaker Kabir Khan, 83 will start rolling in December. After completing the first schedule in India, the team will head off to London for the next schedule.

"After shooting some scenes in India in December, we'll head to London in March for the second leg. The World Cup matches, including the final, will be shot in that schedule,” said the producer.

83 releases on April 10, 2020.
