Indian-American Sanjay Patel is running for US Congress

Indian-American Sanjay Patel believes in economic justice and he refuses to stand and watch as corporate giants pocket billions while hardworking Americans struggle to survive. This is one of the reasons why he is running for the US Congress to represent Florida's 8th district.

Patel was only a year old when his family moved to America. His father worked at a 7-11 and his mother worked at a McDonald's.

"My parents’ hard work for other companies earned little wealth for our family, and even less for our community," he said on his campaign site. "The profits they made for 7-11 and McDonalds were sent to shareholders in far-off places, leaving our neighborhood a poor and dangerous place for kids like me."

If elected, Patel wants to work towards the prosperity for communities on the Space and Treasure Coasts by supporting policies that ensure the welfare of hardworking families.

Healthcare as a right for all Americans is something that Patel is passionate about. "I cannot imagine the stress of losing a household’s primary income while losing someone you love," he said. "And yet, so many Americans have to endure the even greater stress of being unable to afford health insurance or medical treatment for themselves and their families."

The UCLA graduate also wants to work on reforming America’s immigration policy to ensure "we protect Americans, but even more importantly, that we protect what it means to be an American."

Patel will challenge incumbent Republican Bill Posey in Florida's District 8.
