Golmaal Again emerges as the biggest opener of 2017!

Performing beyond all expectations, Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Again, the fourth instalment of the highly successful Hindi film franchise Golmaal, has turned out to be the biggest opener of 2017, if we don't count the Hindi version of S.S Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali: The Conclusion which had clocked over INR 50 crores on its opening day.

Starring an ensemble cast of Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Parineeti Chopra, Arshad Warsi, Kunal Khemu, Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor, Golmaal Again arrived in cinemas on the auspicious occasion of Diwali and making most of the festive season, it pulled in a whooping INR 33 crores, thus becoming the biggest Hindi opener of 2017.

The film was released across approximately 3500 screens nationwide and minted a significant part of its income from Mumbai territory.

What is more interesting to note here is that Golmaal Again was pitted against Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan's home production, Secret Superstar which hit screens one day in advance on 19th October. Though the latter garnered more favourable reviews, collections show it that the audience swayed more towards the comic caper. What seems to have worked in the favour of Golmaal Again is the legacy of three successful films in the franchise.

With over INR 33 crores already in its kitty, Golmaal Again has just begun its impressive run at the box office. It will be interesting to see how far it goes from here.
