Fuel supply issue delays Dubai-bound Air India flight from Southern Indian city

THE stoppage of fuel supply by oil marketing companies to Air India due to non-payment of dues delayed the take-off of a Dubai-bound Air-India Dreamliner from the Southern Indian city of Kochi here by nearly four hours on Monday (26).

The flight with about 300 passengers left for Dubai at around 13.00 instead of at 09.15 Indian Standard Time.

An airport official said fuel supply issue was the reason for the delay.

Pathanamthitta Congress MP Anto Antony said he took up the matter with the country’s minister of state for civil aviation Hardeep Singh Puri and minister of petroleum and natural gas Dharmendra Pradhan after some passengers complained about the delay.

"The issue was resolved after the Civil Aviation Minister spoke to Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The flight took off at 13.09 IST," the MP.

Oil marketing companies (OMCs) have stopped the supply of fuel to Air India at six airports, including Kochi, from last Thursday (22) due to non-payment of dues by the carrier.

Other airports where the fuel supply had been stopped are Visakhapatnam, Mohali, Ranchi, Pune, and Patna.

An Air India spokesperson had said on Thursday that "in the absence of equity support Air India cannot handle the huge debt service liabilities."

"Our financial performance this fiscal, however, is very good and we are moving towards a healthy operating profit. The airline despite its legacy issues is performing very well," he had said.

Fujifilm X Half camera embraces vintage film aesthetics with digital twist

Fujifilm has unveiled the X Half, a new compact digital camera designed to evoke the look and feel of classic film photography. Set to launch in late June 2025, the X Half is a part of Fujifilm’s X-series, and aims to appeal to enthusiasts seeking a nostalgic, analog-inspired shooting experience in a digital format.

The X Half is priced at £849.99 and features an 18-megapixel 1-inch-type sensor paired with a fixed 32mm-equivalent f/2.8 lens. While it uses modern digital technology, the camera deliberately omits certain features common in contemporary models – most notably, it does not support RAW image capture, offering only JPEG files. This decision is part of Fujifilm’s effort to deliver a “what-you-see-is-what-you-get” experience that mirrors traditional film photography.
