Five arrested following illegal immigration raid

THE West Midlands Police on Thursday (20) arrested five men following an immigration raid in Sparkhill.

Four Pakistani national and one from Afghanistan were arrested from an address in Pentos Drive, and handed over to the Home Office.


A Home Office spokeswoman said: “Immigration Enforcement officers supported an intelligence-led West Midlands police operation this morning (Thursday, 20 June) at Pentos Drive, Sparkhill.

“Following checks, five males were arrested for immigration offences. These included four Pakistan nationals and one Afghan national.

“Three of the men were detained pending removal from the UK and a fourth was released on immigration bail whilst his case is progressed.

“A fifth male was passed into the care of Social Services to be fully age assessed.”

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: “Police conducted a planned visit to Pentos Drive in the Sparkhill area of Birmingham just after 8am this morning (Thursday 20 June) following information received relating to suspected illegal immigrants."

Farage says Reform would bar foreign nationals from social housing

REFORM UK leader Nigel Farage has said his party would ban foreign nationals from living in social housing and require existing tenants to move into private rented accommodation within three months or face possible deportation.

The party said the policy would apply retrospectively, regardless of how long someone has lived in the UK, as part of Reform's plan to abolish Indefinite Leave to Remain. Farage said foreign nationals would also lose access to welfare under a Reform government.
