ONE of the greatest leading ladies in the history of Bollywood, Rani Mukerji has won over fans with her memorable moments on screen. Despite not being active on social


media, she has many fans online. These include Susmita Datta from India, who runs a fan club dedicated to her. Eastern Eye caught up with Susmita to find out more...

What made you set up the fan club?

Rani is a superb actress who has a global fan following. In 2006 there were not many celebrity fan clubs over the internet. I wanted to set up a platform for all her fans to connect and discuss her. There were fans from Indonesia, London, Malaysia, UAE and USA who joined the forum.

Tell us about your fan club...

Since 2006, Rani Mukerji Forum is the only forum about the actress with regular updates of pictures, interviews, videos and much more.

What has been your best moment?

If Rani’s film is accepted by masses and critics, it automatically becomes a memorable moment as she makes films after long gaps. I still get the same goosebumps on the Friday her film releases I used to 10 years back.

What is the number one thing you like about Rani Mukerji?

Rani is an immensely-talented actress who can portray any role and give it her best shot to make it relatable on-screen. That makes her special.

What is your favourite work of hers?

It’s hard to list from the varied range of her work, but Black, Hichki and Hum Tum are my favourites.

Tell us an interesting fact about Rani...

I admire how Rani has balanced both her family life and professional life perfectly from the beginning of her career.

What is your definition of a true fan?

A true fan stands by their favourite in the bad times or if their project doesn’t do well. That’s what a true fan should be doing. Fans should understand their favourite is trying

their best and should stand by their side as a support always.

Sydney Sweeney says she is committed to choosing films that will "impact and hopefully save people's lives" as she promotes her latest psychological thriller The Housemaid.

The 28-year-old American actor, who has appeared in two films this year addressing domestic violence, The Housemaid and boxing biopic Christy told the BBC she takes "a lot of care" when portraying such sensitive roles.
