Ekta Kapoor signs Karan Kundrra & Naghma Rizwan for It Happened In Calcutta

Indian television czarina Ekta Kapoor is set to launch yet another romantic digital show, titled It Happened In Calcutta. Kapoor has roped in her favourite Karan Kundrra to play the male lead in her upcoming offering. As far as the female lead is concerned, she has signed newcomer Naghma Rizwan to play the part.

If reports are to be believed, Ekta Kapoor waited for more than two and a half years to find the perfect girl opposite Karan Kundrra. She auditioned more than 300 girls before locking Naghma Rizwan in the role.


While Kundrra will be seen playing the character of a college boy called Ronobir, Rizwan plays Kusum. She wants to become one of the most esteemed doctors in the city of Calcutta and ends up enrolling in the same medical college where Ronobir is already studying. The twist in the tale comes when Kusum falls in love with flamboyant, arrogant Ronobir. The show is set in the 1960s and the 1970s.

Talking about his role in It Happened In Calcutta, Karan Kundrra said, “It's a role that will bring out the best in me because months of hard work have gone in prepping up my character. Ronobir Chatterjee is a medical college student who is flamboyant, arrogant and a devastatingly handsome boy. It’s time to get my strongest flamboyant game on.”

It Happened In Calcutta will stream on ALTBalaji.

Ranveer Singh may lead Bollywood’s next mythology franchise

Ranveer Singh could soon trade crime dramas and larger-than-life antiheroes for ancient mythology, with reports claiming the actor is spearheading a film adaptation of Amish Tripathi’s bestselling Shiva Trilogy.

According to Pinkvilla, Ranveer has acquired the rights to The Immortals of Meluha under his production banner Maa Kasam Film and is developing the project with Birla Studios. The adaptation is reportedly envisioned as a three-film franchise, placing the actor at the centre of one of India’s most commercially successful literary universes.
